Copyright & Takedown Policy
SchoolNest respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. This page explains how to report content that infringes your copyright, and what happens after.
01 Content subject to takedown
Any content on SchoolNest that reproduces someone else's protected work without permission may be removed. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Photographs uploaded without the photographer's permission
- School logos used without authorisation
- Descriptions or text copied from another website
- Videos or media files uploaded without a licence
A takedown notice must be submitted by the copyright owner or their authorised agent. We cannot act on third-party complaints.
02 How to file a takedown notice
Send a written notice to [email protected] with the subject line "Copyright Takedown Notice". Your notice must include all of the following:
- Your identity — full name, mailing address, phone, and email.
- The work — a description of the copyrighted work you own.
- The infringing content — exact URL(s) on SchoolNest where it appears.
- Good-faith statement — that you believe the use is unauthorised.
- Accuracy statement — made under penalty of perjury.
- Signature — your physical or electronic signature.

03 What happens next
Once we receive your notice, here's our process:
- Acknowledge receipt within 2 business days.
- Review the notice for completeness and validity.
- If valid, remove or disable access to the content within 5 business days.
- Notify the user who uploaded the content and provide them the opportunity to file a counter-notice.
04 Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe it was done in error or misidentification, you may file a counter-notice. Your counter-notice must include:
- Your full contact details.
- Identification of the removed content and its prior location.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, of your good-faith belief that the content was removed in error.
- Your consent to the jurisdiction of the Ugandan courts.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
05 Repeat infringers
Users who repeatedly post infringing content will have their accounts suspended or terminated. We maintain an internal register of confirmed repeat offenders and act on it consistently.
06 False claims
Filing a knowingly false or misleading takedown notice may expose you to legal liability — including damages, court costs, and attorney fees incurred by the affected party. Please only file when you have a genuine, good-faith belief that your rights have been infringed.
